Liverpool have responded to an online video highlighting some Chelsea fans singing about Mohamed Salah being a “bomber”.
Some Chelsea supporters were in Prague singing about their former player ahead of their Europa League quarter-final clash against Slavia Prague.
The Independent
adds that “Salah is a bomber” can be heard in the video and Liverpool have called for action regarding the video (h/t Independent):“The video circulating online, showing vile discriminatory chants being aimed at one of our players, is dangerous and disturbing.”
The Reds further highlighted similar abuse across England and Europe and also on social media.
Liverpool called these actions as “unadulterated bigotry” and wanted the perpetrators to be punished (h/t Independent).
Chelsea released a statement where they confirmed strong action would be taken against those involved in the incident (h/t Independent):
“Chelsea FC finds all forms of discriminatory behaviour abhorrent and where there is clear evidence of Chelsea season ticket holders or members involved in such behaviour, we will take the strongest possible action against them.”
The release
further claimed that such supporters are an “embarrassment” to the Chelsea fans, who won’t tolerate such people in the club. The Evening Standard adds that the Chelsea security team worked before the game kicked off against Prague.
The Standard claims that three individuals were stopped from entering the stadium as Chelsea won the tie 1-0.
