Eden Hazard has been a thorn in Liverpool’s side this season. The Belgian scored the winner in the Carabao Cup game earlier in the season and opened the scoring in the 1-1 draw in the league.
The Belgian has found form in recent games and even was rested in the 1-0 win over Slavia Prague in the Europa League.
Jurgen Klopp was speaking ahead of the clash against the Blues and was asked how to stop the Belgian on Sunday. The German joked we needed more players (h/t Liverpool Echo):
“We will take 13 players, and two will play only against Eden!”
However, the manager provided a serious answer and claimed that the Reds have to ensure Hazard does not receive the ball:
“The best way to try to make sure that he cannot shine is to avoid passes to him,” added Klopp. “React a little bit better than other teams did.”
The German added that it is difficult to stop the Belgian when he is one-on-one and that is when help is needed from other players.
Liverpool and Chelsea need the three points for different reasons. The Blues need to win to stay in the top four while Liverpool need the points to keep the pressure on Manchester City.
The Reds have been excellent at home, and we need to play at our best to defeat Maurizio Sarri’s men.
We beat Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United at home this season, and hopefully, we get the better of the Blues on Sunday.
