Liverpool FC transfer news: Liverpool want £9m for young defender Rafa Camacho
Liverpool want £9m for 18-year-old Portuguese defender Rafa Camacho, according to A Bola (h/t Liverpool Echo).
The right-back played a couple of senior games for the Reds this season as he started in our FA Cup defeat at the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Camacho then made an important tackle in the 4-3 win over Crystal Palace at Anfield after coming on as a sub.
The 18-year-old has garnered interest from Sporting Lisbon, according to the report, and the Portuguese giants are willing to spend £5m for Camacho’s services.
The report further claims that Camacho is out of contract at the end of next season and Liverpool rate the youngster highly.
Camacho left Sporting to join Manchester City in 2013 before penning a four-year deal with Liverpool in 2016 (h/t Sky Sports).
Tremendous competition for places at Liverpool
Sky Sports had earlier reported that contract talks between the club and player stalled, with several top European clubs interested in the 18-year-old.
Liverpool have immense competition in the defence and the return of Joe Gomez to fitness is another boost for the Reds. Trent Alexander-Arnold is our first-choice right-back while James Milner and Gomez can play in that position.
