Latest Liverpool transfer news: Nicolas Pepe’s agent claims star could leave Lille in summer
Nicolas Pepe has been one of the stars in this Ligue 1 season. The Ivorian international has scored 19 times in the league this season with 11 assists and has helped Les Dogues to second place in the standings.
The right-winger has been in excellent form recently with two goals and three assists in his last four games for Lille.
The Liverpool Echo reports that the 23-year-old has been linked with a move to Liverpool, and his agent told RTL (h/t Liverpool Echo) that the attacker is in talks with several clubs regarding a summer move:
“We are in discussions with clubs. No decision has been taken.”
Samir Khiat further claimed that there isn’t any preset destination for Pepe and they are yet to decide which country he could play in:
“Today, there are no favourites, be it Bayern Munich or another club.
“Nicolas will not go just anywhere. We have not decided on which league.”
Pepe’s stock on the rise after a great season
The Ivorian had a great first season with Lille last time around. The 23-year-old scored 13 times and provided four assists for his club in the previous campaign.
The 23-year-old could make a decent signing for the Reds given that we need options out wide. Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are possibly two of the best wingers in the world, but we need some cover for the pair.
Pepe has excelled at Lille over the past two years, and it will be interesting to see how things progress with him in the summer.
