Latest Liverpool transfer news: Reds lead chase for Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne
Lorenzo Insigne isn’t having a great time at Napoli this season. The Italian attacker was booed by his own fans as the club lost to Arsenal in the Europa League, according to the Mirror.
Reports (h/t Mirror) add that the 27-year-old was unhappy by Carlo Ancelotti’s decision to sub him in that loss, and the relationship between the two isn’t great.
The Italian attacker is valued at £60million, and Corriere dello Sport (h/t Mirror) adds that clubs are lining up to sign the striker.
The report claims that Liverpool are leading the race for the 27-year-old, and Napoli will let Insigne leave should they get the right price for their captain.
Liverpool aren’t the only ones interested in Insigne with Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan keen on the Italian, according to the report.
More competition for Liverpool’s forwards
The Reds have a formidable front three with Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane doing a lot of damage to the opposition.
However, we don’t have a lot of quality back-up with Divock Origi, Daniel Sturridge and Xherdan Shaqiri struggling for games and goals.
Insigne would provide great competition for our front three and the Italian is capable of playing on the wing or as a central striker.

The 27-year-old has 13 goals and six assists for Napoli this season in all competitions and would be an incredible signing for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
