Liverpool FC transfer news: Benfica plan meeting with Rafa Camacho’s representatives
Benfica have arranged a meeting with Rafa Camacho’s representatives next week ahead of a possible bid in the summer, according to A Bola (h/t Birmingham Mail).
The report claims that Benfica want to speak with the 18-year-old’s reps and the Reds have already turned down bids from Borussia Dortmund and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The pair bid close to £10m for the 18-year-old and has just one year left on his current deal. However, Liverpool are willing to offer him a new long-term contract.
The youngster made his senior debut for the Reds this season and played in the FA Cup loss to Wolves earlier in the campaign.
Camacho recently spoke about his positioning after he scored for Liverpool’s U23s (h/t Birmingham Mail):
“I do not know whose idea it is, but I will prove that they are mistaken about my football.
“I’m not a right defender, I’m an attacker who scores goals. This is my DNA. Happy to score three goals and help the team in today’s win vs Leicester.”
Camacho wants more games at Anfield
The report adds that the Portuguese youngster is unhappy with the lack of playing time at Anfield.
It is tough for the youngster to get a lot of playing time given the quality of our first XI.
Replacing Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane in the attack is a tough job for any player in the world. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez have been stellar in the defence this season too.
