Latest Liverpool news: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in line for contract extension at Liverpool

Liverpool will offer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain a 12-month contract extension as the Englishman returned to first-team action last Friday, according to the Mirror.

The former Arsenal midfielder missed a year of football after picking up a serious injury in the Champions League last season.

He made his return to first-team action in the 5-0 win over Huddersfield, and also had a chance to score in the game.

The report claims that the Ox will sign the new deal which will keep him at Anfield till 2023.

The Mirror further adds that this is a show of faith and a classy gesture from the Reds as the Englishman gradually made his return to the team.

The Ox travelling to Spain for Champions League football

Liverpool face Barcelona in the semi-finals of the Champions League. The first leg is in Spain and the Mirror claims that Oxlade-Chamberlain would be part of the squad.

The midfielder looked a little rusty in the win over Huddersfield, and more minutes in the first-team should help him get back to his best.

The Ox’s driving runs from the midfield provides the Reds with a different dimension, and hopefully, he gets back to his best as the season draws to a close.
