Celta Vigo star Maxi Gomez has read rumours of him potentially joining Liverpool, but the striker is happy at his current club.
The 22-year-old forward has found the back of the net 13 times this season with four assists to his name.
Gomez primarily plays as a central striker and scored 17 times in La Liga last season.
The Uruguayan was speaking to Marca, where he also spoke about the possibility of moving to Barcelona (h/t Liverpool Echo):
“There are many comments through social networks, what if I sign for Barcelona, if I go to Liverpool…I am very calm and in Vigo I feel very comfortable.”
Gomez could be a smart signing by the Reds. He is still young at 22, which gives him time to hone his skills.
The Reds face a crunch as a couple of their forwards are out injured. Roberto Firmino could miss the rest of the season while Mohamed Salah had to be substituted in the 3-2 win over Newcastle United.
The Egyptian picked up a head injury and Divock Origi came on to score the winning goal of the game.
Daniel Sturridge is also out of a contract at the end of the season, and it will be interesting to see if we bring more attackers into the side next season.
Rhian Brewster has returned to action in recent weeks, and the young forward could have a role to play for the Reds in the new campaign.
