Latest Liverpool transfer news: Real Madrid interested in David Neres as Gareth Bale replacement

La Liga giants Real Madrid are interested in Ajax winger David Neres, according to Calciomercato (h/t Liverpool Echo).

The Brazilian has been excellent for the Dutch side this season and has played a huge role in the Champions League run.

Neres scored in the 4-1 win over Real in the Champions League round of 16 and found the back of the net against Juventus.

The report claims that Real see the 22-year-old as a replacement for Gareth Bale, and the Welsh attacker’s relationship with Zinedine Zidane isn’t great.

Real to move quick for deal

Liverpool have been linked with the Brazilian recently, and the report claims that Real could move quickly for the 22-year-old.

Neres has scored 11 goals this season and assisted a further 10 as the Dutch giants look to win the treble. Ajax lifted the KNVB Cup this weekend, and are also in the race for the Eredivisie with PSV locked on the same number of points.

The 22-year-old would make an excellent signing for Liverpool given his attacking ability and versatility to play in several positions.

The Reds could do with more creativity in the final third and Neres would provide Jurgen Klopp with the possibility to rotate his front three.

Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have started most of our games this season, but the trio could do with a bit of a rest from time to time.

Liverpool are in a bit of a pickle at the moment with Firmino and Salah carrying knocks.

Our attack would not look as sharp with the likes of Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge starting in place of the injured pair, and we have a couple of huge games remaining in the campaign.
