Latest Liverpool news: Liverpool players train ahead of crucial Champions League clash against Barcelona

Liverpool have it all to do against Barcelona in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final on Tuesday.

The Reds were a little unlucky to lose the first tie 3-0 and will not have the services of Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino due to injuries.

The Egyptian was replaced by Divock Origi in the game against Newcastle, and the Belgian scored the winner late in the game.

The 24-year-old could start for us on Tuesday and we could see Joel Matip return to the side too.

The Cameroon defender was rested in the win over the Magpies with Dejan Lovren starting, and it will be interesting to see if Joe Gomez gets some minutes or not.

The English defender started as the right-back in the reverse fixture, but Trent Alexander-Arnold could start in that position as we need to score at least thrice.

Liverpool need to be at their best at Anfield

The Reds have to be at their best to have any chance of defeating Barcelona.

Xherdan Shaqiri hasn’t played many games for us in the second half of the campaign, but the Swiss star could start for us on Tuesday.

Fabinho had a decent game against the Magpies, and it will be interesting to see how he deals with the Barcelona attack at Anfield.

Our midfield could feature Jordan Henderson and James Milner, and the English pair will have their work cut out if we are to dominate Barca.

Henderson has been deployed in an advanced role in recent weeks, and the former Sunderland midfielder needs to have a great game too.

Alisson has to keep Barcelona from scoring as a single goal for the Catalans would mean that we have to score five to progress.

Things won’t be easy against Barcelona, even if we are playing at home. However, Liverpool have produced miracles in Europe earlier and another one cannot be ruled out on Tuesday.
