Liverpool FC transfer news: Julian Brandt happy at Bayer Leverkusen
Bayern Leverkusen’s Julian Brandt has played down reports of a move to Liverpool, and is happy with the Bundesliga club, according to the Mirror.
The 23-year-old has been linked with the Reds and Juventus, with both clubs interested in moving for him in the summer, according to the report.
However, the German international isn’t thinking of a move away from the club anytime soon.
Brandt spoke to the official website of Leverkusen after their 6-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt and claimed he was happy here at the club:
“I’m enjoying myself.
“I’ve got a contract with Bayer until 2021, so right now all is well.
“As things stand, I’m staying put. I just want to end the season as best we can.”
Brandt available for just £22million
The Mirror adds that despite Brandt’s happiness at Leverkusen, the German has a £22million release clause in his contract.
Brandt has had a great season having racked up nine goals and 12 assists in all competitions for the club.
The 23-year-old was a target for the Reds in 2017 and we signed Mohamed Salah after failing to land Brandt, according to the Mirror.
Klopp could still be tempted to move for the German, especially with Adam Lallana possibly leaving the club in the summer (h/t Mirror).
The English midfielder has had a torrid time with injuries over the past two seasons and has only started six games for the Reds in all competitions in this campaign.
Leverkusen are fighting Frankfurt for the fourth Champions League spot, and the report claims that missing out on Europe’s elite club competition could play a factor in the German remaining at the club.
