Liverpool FC transfer news: Mark Lawrenson wants Reds to move for Reece James
Former Liverpool star Mark Lawrenson believes Chelsea’s Reece James is ready to make a name for himself in the Premier League.
The 19-year-old spent last season on loan at Wigan and had an excellent spell with the Latics. The right-back played 45 times in the Championship and recorded three goals and three assists.
The Daily Star reports that the youngster is back with Chelsea at the moment, and Brighton have been linked with a £10m move for the Englishman.
However, Lawrenson believes Liverpool should also make a move for the 19-year-old and doesn’t think Jurgen Klopp will make big moves in the summer (h/t Daily Star):
“Recruitment is the biggest thing for any club now and I don’t think Klopp will go mad in the transfer market this summer.
“But I tell you who I’ve seen – and I don’t think they could easily get him – the right-back at Wigan, on loan from Chelsea, Reece James.
“In that league he makes it look so ridiculously easy. I think he could make the step up.”
Jurgen Klopp getting the best out of the players
The German has done extremely well with his transfer at the club since taking over from Brendan Rodgers.
Andy Robertson, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez are some of the young players that have improved remarkably under the German manager.
It will be difficult to sign any player from Chelsea, given their transfer ban, but we have done business in the past with Premier League rivals Arsenal too.
However, Alexander-Arnold and Gomez are excellent right-backs for Liverpool and we also have Ki-Jana Hoever coming through the ranks.

James can play as a centre-back or in the midfield too, and it will be interesting to see if he is on the move in the summer.
