Liverpool FC transfer news: Jamie Carragher wants Philippe Coutinho return but for the right price

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes the Reds should re-sign Philippe Coutinho given that we don’t have a similar player at Anfield.

Coutinho left the Reds 18 months ago to sign for Barcelona but hasn’t done extremely well since joining the Catalans.

The Mirror claims that Barcelona will listen to offers for the Brazilian as Antoine Griezmann is expected to arrive in the summer.

The report claims that Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the former Liverpool star, but Carragher told the Liverpool Echo that we could sign him for the right amount (h/t Mirror):

“I wouldn’t say I would be actively going to get him, but if there was a possibility of bringing Coutinho back for decent money, and Barca wanted to cut their losses a little bit because it hasn’t worked out, then I’d do that.”

Carra added that Xherdan Shaqiri and Adam Lallana could do a similar job but Coutinho was on another level.

The former Red claimed that Manchester City have lots of attacking talent in their midfield, something we don’t have at the moment:

“It’s the one thing Man City have on us, they have Bernardo Silva, David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne. We don’t have that type of player.”

City beat us to the Premier League by one point despite us amassing 97 points. Coutinho didn’t do well at Anfield when Barcelona were dumped out of the Champions League by the Reds.
