Liverpool FC transfer news: Ralf Rangnick hints at Timo Werner exit from RB Leipzig
RB Leipzig chief Ralf Rangnick has hinted that German striker Timo Werner could be on his way out of the Bundesliga club.
The 23-year-old German forward has scored 19 times this season for Leipzig and bagged seven assists in all competitions.
The Liverpool Echo reports that the forward has been linked with Liverpool and has refused to sign a contract extension with his current club.
Rangnick spoke to Doppelpass and claimed that Werner should find a new club if he isn’t signing a new deal (h/t Liverpool Echo):
“Our position is that if he does not renew the contract, he should change clubs.
“He would first have to agree with a club and this club would have to contact RB, which has not happened to my knowledge.”
German giants interested in the 23-year-old.
The Liverpool Echo adds that Bayern Munich are also interested in signing the forward, and it could be a big summer for Werner.
The 23-year-old is one of the best attackers in the Bundesliga and needs to play regular games to continue his development.
Bayern have seen two big players leave in Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery, and Werner is capable of playing out wide.
Liverpool, for their part, need cover for the front three and the 23-year-old could become one of the best in the world under Jurgen Klopp.
