Liverpool FC transfer news: Lyon are willing to sell Frenchman Nabil Fekir

The Metro reports that Liverpool could revive their interest in Nabil Fekir after Lyon president confirmed that the World Cup-winner will be allowed to leave.

The report adds that Liverpool were close to signing the 25-year-old last summer in a £53million deal but backed out at the last minute due to a problem with the player’s knees.

Fekir has a history of major injuries related to his knees and remained at Lyon. The 25-year-old won the World Cup with France and now seems set to leave his club.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas admitted that Fekir will leave and has agreed to let the Frenchman go (h/t Metro):

“Effectively, Nabil is outside [of the two departures we already expect to happen], because we have an understanding that he can go.

“Thanks Nabil for bringing what he brought, we have an understanding to let him go.”

Fekir does his bit for Lyon this season

Lyon finished third, thanks to Fekir as the Frenchman scored 12 goals and provided 9 assists in the Champions League and Ligue 1 this season.

It will be interesting to see if we make another move for the Frenchman given that we spent a lot in the previous summer window.

The Reds have a quality side all-round and we need to build on a fantastic season so far.

Liverpool could win the Champions League after an incredible run which includes wins against Napoli, Bayern Munich, PSG and Barcelona.

The Reds could do with more squad depth, especially in their attack, as we don’t have quality cover for Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

Fekir mostly plays as a striker or just behind the forward, and he could be one of the big transfers in the summer.
