Latest Liverpool news: Liverpool beat Manchester City to top Premier League earnings from 2018/19 season

Liverpool earned a record £152.43million from their Premier League campaign, according to figures released from the competition (h/t Liverpool Echo).

The Reds might have finished second to Manchester City but topped the earnings table because of a greater number of live matches compared to their rivals.

The Liverpool Echo reports that 29 out of our 38 Premier League games were live in the UK. Manchester United came second with 27 games shown live while Tottenham and Manchester City came third with 26 each.

City were awarded £150.99m from the tournament while Chelsea picked up £146.03m and were placed third, according to the report.

Liverpool top the charts for the first time since 2013-14

The Reds topped the payment charts for the first time since their 2013-14 season where they finished second to Manchester City.

The £152.43m we earned this time was the highest amount ever for the Reds from the Premier League, with us banking £145.9m

The break up of our record earnings saw us pick up £34.36m, which is an equal share handed to all Premier League clubs this season. The facility fee for the Reds was £33.46m while the merit payment for finishing second was £36.45m, according to the report.

The Reds also picked up £43.18m from their international TV rights, with the same amount being handed to all clubs, and central commercial income of £4.97m

Although beating City in this table doesn’t make up for losing out on the Premier League crown, it is something we can take into next season.
