Latest Liverpool transfer news: Atletico Madrid interested in signing Ajax’s David Neres

Liverpool face competition from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid for Ajax star David Neres, according to AS (h/t Liverpool Echo).

The Brazilian had a wonderful season with the recently crowned Eredivisie champions and recorded 11 goals and 10 assists in all competitions.

Neres also played a huge role in their Champions League semi-final run, with an incredible goal against Juventus.

The report claims that the 22-year-old is one of the primary targets for Atletico as a host of players are expected to leave in the summer.

Neres has also been selected for Brazil’s Copa America side and will play alongside Liverpool stars Roberto Firmino and Alisson.

The report claims that there is interest from Serie A clubs too but Everton are also keeping tabs on the 22-year-old Brazilian.

Neres can be deployed in several positions and would be a great signing for the Reds. We need more creativity in the final third and also provide quality competition to the pair of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

The pair were the leading Premier League scorers along with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and could improve further next season. Liverpool have a great first XI and need to add a little more squad depth to compete with Manchester City constantly.
