Liverpool FC transfer news: Liverpool interested in RB Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate
The Liverpool Echo reports that the Reds are interested in RB Leipzig’s young defender Ibrahima Konate.
The 19-year-old French centre-back joined the Bundesliga club in 2017 from Sochaux, and the report claims that Konate has a contract until 2023.
The impressive defender played 36 times for Leipzig this season and even scored a pair of goals for the team. The 19-year-old could be a smart addition to the team and we have worked with RB Leipzig before.
It took us some time but we got Naby Keita from the Bundesliga side and it will be interesting to see if we make a move for Konate in the summer.
Liverpool losing the race for Werner
AS (h/t Liverpool Echo) adds that Bayern Munich want to negotiate with Leipzig over Timo Werner.
Liverpool have been linked with the German attacker (h/t Liverpool Echo), but it seems that the Bundesliga giants could win the race to sign the 23-year-old striker. Liverpool have a wonderful attack while the defence has been incredible over the past season or so.
Virgil van Dijk has formed a great partnership alongside Joel Matip in the second half of the campaign, while he did a fantastic job with Joe Gomez early on.
Konate could be a star for the future but the Reds have Dejan Lovren on the books, while Ki-Jana Hoever could also play in the heart of the defence.
