Liverpool play closed doors friendly against European giants’ B side ahead of crunch Champions League final

Latest Liverpool news: Reds prepare for Champions League final with 3-0 friendly win

Liverpool continued their preparations for the Champions League final with a 3-0 win over Benfica’s B side in a closed-doors friendly game on Saturday, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The Portuguese team players in the second tier of their league structure and the report claims that Jurgen Klopp was keen on getting a practise match under the team’s belt.

Benfica are one of the biggest sides in Europe and their senior side has won the most Portuguese league titles in history.

The match took place at Liverpool’s training camp at Marbella where the Reds have been present for almost a week.

Liverpool face Tottenham in the Champions League final on 1 June but that game comes nearly three weeks after the Premier League season ended.

The report adds that Liverpool were finding it tough to find opposition for the friendly due to most of the leagues ending.

Dutch reports (h/t Liverpool Echo) claimed that the Reds failed to finalise a friendly with AZ Alkmaar a couple of weeks ago.

Reds to return home before flying off to Madrid

The Liverpool Echo adds that the Reds will return to Melwood from their week-long camp at Marbella.

The Reds will continue preparing for the final before travelling to Madrid for the final at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Tottenham will train at the Real Madrid’s complex on Thursday and Friday, according to the report, before Liverpool use the same facilities on Saturday, the day of the final.

The Reds should be in great shape for the final and we need to play at our best if we want to win the Champions League for the sixth time.
