Liverpool FC transfer news: Reds willing to bid £20m for Diego Llorente
Liverpool are willing to test Real Sociedad’s resolve by bidding £20m for Spanish centre-back Diego Llorente, according to AS (h/t Liverpool Echo).
The Reds want to sign the 25-year-old, according to the report, and the player has a release clause of £45m.
However, Sociedad are open to offers below that amount for Llorente, according to the report. Llorente played 22 times for the Spanish side this season and all of them came in central defence.
A surprising link for the Reds
The Reds already have a fantastic defence, with Virgil van Dijk doing his magic at the back. The Dutch defender has made a huge difference to the side since his move from Southampton.
Joel Matip is another star who has done exceptionally well in the second half of this season, while Joe Gomez was fantastic in the first half before he suffered a fracture.
Dejan Lovren has also done a decent job whenever he has played for the team this season. Llorente would be a surprising signing given that we have quality in the first-team while Nat Phillips and Ki-Jana Hoever are highly rated youth players coming through the ranks.
