Latest Liverpool news: Klopp takes a cheeky dig at Guardiola over Champions League progress
Jurgen Klopp spoke to the press ahead of the Champions League final against Tottenham on Saturday. The Reds are looking to go one better than last season when Real Madrid defeated us to the title.
Klopp provided some great news in the press conference, with Roberto Firmino looking set to feature in the final but Naby Keita will play no part in the clash.
The German also spoke about his Premier League rival Pep Guardiola as the Spaniard claimed that winning the league is bigger than winning the Champions League.
Klopp had a dig at his rival before adding that Guardiola is great and Manchester City were slightly better in the league than the Reds.
Klopp : “Pep has to say that (winning PL is more important than CL) as he hasn’t been in CL final for a while! He is a great manager and deserves all the praise he gets. We tried to win the PL this season. City were a better team. But there’s another competition we’re in.”

Guardiola’s struggles in Europe with Man City
City pipped Liverpool to the Premier League title but Guardiola has not been able to go beyond the quarter-finals in the Champions League.
City were knocked out in the round of 16 in his first season in charge while we defeated them in the quarter-finals last season. Our opponents in the final, Tottenham, defeated them on away goals this season in the quarter-finals recently.
This would be Klopp’s third European final since taking over at Liverpool, however, he is still looking to win his first trophy.
