Latest Liverpool news: Sadio Mane happy at Liverpool despite Real Madrid rumours
Sadio Mane has insisted that he is happy at Liverpool despite links to Real Madrid, according to Liverpool Echo.
The Senegal star had a fantastic Premier League campaign this season as he finished the season by sharing the Golden Boot with Mohamed Salah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Liverpool Echo reports that Zinedine Zidane is interested in the 27-year-old but Mane wasn’t paying attention to these rumours and is happy at his current club (h/t Liverpool Echo):
“Always this is part of football so we have to deal with it,” said Mane. “But for me the most important thing is Liverpool and I’m happy here.”
The Senegal star wanted to concentrate on the Champions League final and was looking to lift his first trophy with Liverpool. Mane highlighted that a team like Real being interested in him is great but added that Liverpool beat big teams too:
“It’s always a pleasure that this kind of team wants [you] but don’t forget Liverpool. They beat big teams.”
Mane has more in his tank
The Senegal international has improved with each season under Jurgen Klopp.
The 27-year-old scored 22 Premier League goals this season, his best return in the competition, and he will be one of the keys in the Champions League final.
Liverpool face Tottenham in the biggest game of the season at the Wanda Metropolitano and it will be interesting to see how things go in Madrid.
