Liverpool FC transfer news: Samuel Chukwueze plays down rumours of him leaving Villarreal
Samuel Chukwueze was one of the stars for Villarreal last season. The Nigerian scored 8 times in all competitions for the Spanish side as they finished 14th in the league.
The 20-year-old can play in several attacking positions and has a release clause of £50m, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The report adds that Liverpool have been linked with Chukwueze, however, the Nigerian isn’t thinking of a move away from the La Liga side yet.
The attacker was quoted by Marca (h/t Liverpool Echo), and was pleased that his hard work was finally showing off:
“I am aware that there are several interested teams, but I am still a Villarreal player and there is nothing concrete. It’s good that I am linked to great clubs, because that shows that hard work has its reward.
“I do not want to rush to go to another club. But if I ever had to leave, I should make sure I go to a club where I’m going to play.”
Where will Chukwueze get his minutes at Liverpool?
Chukwueze would be a decent addition to this Liverpool team but he would not receive a lot of first-team starts due to the quality of players we have.
The Reds could do with more options on the bench and Chukwueze’s versatility to play anywhere in the attack would be a bonus for Jurgen Klopp.
The Nigerian still isn’t the finished article and working under Klopp could take him to another level. The Reds need to build after a great season that saw them miss out on the Premier League title by one point.
