The Daily Mail reports that Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius has turned down the chance of watching the Champions League final at the Wanda Metropolitano.
The 25-year-old is halfway through a two-year loan at Turkish giants Besiktas. Karius played in the Champions League final last season but made a couple of errors that handed Real Madrid the trophy.
The Daily Mail adds that tests conducted later proved that Karius had suffered a concussion in that game but the German will be on a holiday during the Champions League final.
The report claims that Liverpool made it clear that all players out on loan would have Champions League final tickets available to them but they would have to travel separately for the clash on Saturday.
Karius does not want to become a distraction for the side, and the report adds that Liverpool are supportive of the German’s decision to not attend the final.
The German has had an up and down time at the Turkish club too, with a few mistakes early on in this season.
However, Karius has turned things around in recent weeks and could remain at the club for the second year of the loan spell.
The German is still young and has the potential to develop further as he looks to banish the memories of that Champions League final against Madrid.
The 25-year-old will find it tough to replace Alisson at Liverpool as the Brazilian conceded just 22 goals in the Premier League campaign and won the Golden Glove in his debut season.
