Latest Liverpool news: John Henry shares Liverpool’s target for next season
Liverpool owner John Henry claimed that the target for the Merseyside club next season is the Premier League.
The Reds missed out on the title this season by a point despite losing just one game in the Premier League campaign. Liverpool also managed 97 points in the league but Manchester City were just slightly better.
Henry spoke to Sky Sports (h/t Mirror) and was happy to have reached the Champions League final for a second successive season.
However, the American claimed winning the Champions League would not make up for losing out the Premier League race (h/t Mirror):
“They (The Premier League and Champions League) are different. It doesn’t make up for it. Not winning the Premier League this year means it’s an even larger goal for next year.”
Henry claimed that the Reds wanted to reach the finals of the Champions League this season, and the Premier League is the target for the upcoming campaign.
The American even claimed that FSG would invest in the playing squad but in the right manner:
“We’ll be set on winning next year. We’re going to have a go, and we’re strong already.
“Every year—we haven’t gone through that process yet, because we’re still playing—but every year we’ve shown we’re willing to invest in the right kind of player and do it the right way so the club is sustainable.”
Liverpool have to build on a great season
The Reds might have finished second in the league but it was incredible not to win the crown after racking up 97 points.
The players gave it their all and we have to build on this season and take our game to the next level.

Manchester City will certainly be in the race for the title next season, and it will be interesting to see who we sign to strengthen the team in the summer.
