Latest Liverpool news: Liverpool in Pot 1 head of next season’s Champions League draw
Liverpool’s triumph in the Champions League on Saturday has placed them in Pot 1 ahead of next season’s draw.
The Reds will be one of the top seeds for next season’s competition and the Pot will feature Chelsea and Manchester City due to them winning the Europa League and Premier League respectively.
The Mirror adds that Juventus, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Zenit St. Petersburg will also feature in the Pot.
The Reds cannot face another Premier League side in the group as no two teams from the same country can face each other in this stage.
Liverpool could get a tough group again
The Reds might be in Pot 1 but the report adds that some big teams have been included in Pot 2. Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Napoli and Ajax should feature in this Pot.
Liverpool’s group this season featured Napoli, PSG and Red Star Belgrade, which was not an easy draw for us.
We still made it through and the report claims that we could face Real Madrid, RB Leipzig and Inter Milan in next season’s competition.
The other teams who could be in Pot 3 are Valencia, Lyon, Benfica and Bayer Leverkusen, while Pot 4 could feature Atalanta, Lille and Galatasaray.
It shouldn’t really matter who Liverpool face given our progress in this season’s competition, as we beat some top sides to lift the title for the sixth time.
