Latest Liverpool transfer news: Werder Bremen deny bid for Jiri Pavlenka from Liverpool

The Liverpool Echo reports that Jiri Pavlenka has been linked with a move to Champions League winners Liverpool. The Reds beat Tottenham 2-0 in the final, with summer signing Alisson being the Man of the Match.

The report claims that Jurgen Klopp could be in the market for a new backup keeper for the Brazilian as Simon Mignolet could leave Liverpool.

Mignolet wasn’t discussing his future after the Champions League final (h/t Liverpool Echo) and Werder Bremen’s sporting director Frank Bauman added that Pavlenka isn’t leaving the Bundesliga side.

Juventus have also not made a move for Pavlenka

Speaking to Weser-Kurier (h/t Liverpool Echo), Bauman claimed there has been no bid from Liverpool or the Serie A champions:

“We plan with Pavlenka for the new season. There is no offer from Juventus or Liverpool for Jiri Pavlenka.”

The report adds that the 27-year-old is contracted until 2021. Pavlenka would be an excellent No.2 to have in the team to provide cover for Alisson.

The Czech keeper was the No.1 for Bremen this season, and it would be difficult seeing him become the No.2 even at a club that has won the Champions League.

Mignolet did an excellent job for us this season despite not playing too many games. The Belgian was a rock behind the scenes and always supported the team throughout the campaign.

Alisson needs a quality keeper as his backup should he pick up an injury, and it will be interesting to see how things work out in the summer.
