Liverpool FC transfer news: Matthijs de Ligt’s agent wants defender to join Liverpool
Sport (h/t Metro) report that Matthijs de Ligt has snubbed a move to Manchester United while Liverpool are seen as the biggest competitors to Barcelona for the 19-year-old.
De Ligt had an incredible campaign for Ajax this season and the report adds that the club expects at least £60million for the teenager.
Barcelona are leading the race for the centre-back, however, De Ligt’s agent Mino Raiola prefers a move to Paris Saint-Germain or Liverpool, according to the report.
Money talking for Raiola
The report adds that PSG and Liverpool are willing to meet Raiola’s fees while Barcelona are not offering as much money to the agent.
De Ligt has as many as five offers to consider, but the report claims that the Reds are seen as the biggest threat to the La Liga champions.
The Reds also defeated Barcelona en route to the Champions League trophy, and they have a couple of quality Dutch stars at the club.
Georginio Wijnaldum and Virgil van Dijk have been excellent for Liverpool this season, and it will be interesting to see if we make a serious move for De Ligt.
The Dutch defender would be an excellent signing and possibly an upgrade on Joel Matip and Joe Gomez, however, the pair did a brilliant job for us last season.

Liverpool had the best defence in the Premier League this season and signing De Ligt would only make the defence stronger for the upcoming campaign.
