Latest Liverpool transfer news: Inter Milan submit €70m bid for Liverpool target Nicolas Pepe

L’Equipe (h/t Metro) reports that Liverpool are leading the race for Ivorian sensation Nicolas Pepe despite Inter Milan submitting a €70m bid.

The 24-year-old Lille winger scored 22 goals and provided 11 assists in Ligue 1 last season as Les Dogues finished in the Champions League spots.

Pepe has been impressive in the French league for a couple of seasons, and the report claims that Tottenham are also interested in the 24-year-old.

The report adds that Lille want €80m for their prized possession and Liverpool are also negotiating with the winger over a possible move.

Any club signing Pepe has to guarantee him first-team football, according to the report, and that is a little difficult at Liverpool at the moment. The Reds have two world-class wingers and the pair is only improving with each season under Jurgen Klopp.

Pepe coming in to replace an attacker?

The report adds that Pepe’s arrival could be dependent on either Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane leaving the club.

Salah and Mane are excellent players and recently signed contract extensions which could keep them at Anfield for a long time.

It would be crazy for Liverpool to sell either unless they want to leave, but the Reds will get a great price should they decide to make a deal with a top club. Seeing Mane or Salah leave seems unlikely given that we just won the Champions League under Klopp.

Pepe would be a great signing but not at the cost of either Mane or Salah.
