Latest Liverpool news: Liverpool will not show Premier League VAR replays due to lack of giant screens

Sky Sports reports that the Premier League confirmed that teams will be able to display clips to explain VAR decisions next season when the technology is adopted by the league.

VAR has already been used in several top-flight leagues over the past year, with the Champions League also using the technology.

The Premier League is the next big competition to adopt the system, however, Liverpool and Manchester United will not show VAR replays next season.

The report claims that Anfield and Old Trafford do not have a big screen, which means that fans will not have the help of replays to understand VAR decisions.

Steps planned to help supporters

A release from the Premier League explained the measures taken by clubs regarding VAR decisions when they don’t feature a screen in the stadium (h/t Sky Sports):

“For clubs which do not have giant screens in their stadium, VAR communications will be made via a combination of PA announcements and messages on scoreboards.”

The report adds that earlier uses of the technology would not display replays for the supporters in the stadium, which often led to confusion.

The Reds will return next season as Champions League winners and VAR was consulted a few times in our 4-0 win over Barcelona in the second leg semi-final.

The final also saw Moussa Sissoko’s handball being checked by the VAR and hopefully, we can land the Premier League next season and make it an incredible tenure for Jurgen Klopp.
