Latest Liverpool transfer news: Adam Lallana confirms he will remain at Anfield next season
Liverpool’s Adam Lallana has confirmed he will remain at the club next season and believes he has a huge role to play.
The 31-year-old won the Champions League though he did not play any minutes in the final.
Lallana has struggled with injuries, and the Liverpool Echo reports that Southampton have been linked with their former player.
The Englishman was asked if he wanted to stay at the club, and he replied (h/t Liverpool Echo):
“Yeah. Absolutely no question about it. I couldn’t be happier here, winning Champions Leagues.
“I know my ability and I know what I can give. And the gaffer and his staff and the recruitment guys have all made it clear they know I have a big part to play with what’s to come next, so I’m buzzing with that.
“No question my future is here and I can’t wait for what’s next.”
Lallana has to prove himself to the team
The Englishman is an excellent player when fit, however, his injury record last season wasn’t great.
The 31-year-old can play as a part of the attack or in the midfield, and it will be interesting to see how Jurgen Klopp uses him in the upcoming campaign.
Lallana started six games for us last season and the report adds that Lallana has just one year left on his current contract.
Liverpool require a big squad as we participate in additional competitions like the Club World Cup next season.
