Liverpool FC transfer news: Reds offer contract to five young players and release nine others

The Reds also announced that nine players were leaving the squad in the summer, with four having played for the first-team.

Two big names leaving the club

From the list of released players, Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno are the two biggest departures.

Moreno’s time has been limited since the arrival of Andy Robertson, while Sturridge got some goals for the Reds last season.

The English striker also posted an emotional message for the fans and the staff. Both players got a great sending off as we lifted the Champions League on Saturday.

Goalkeeper Adam Bogdan and Connor Randall were also released by the Reds and the pair played some games under manager Jurgen Klopp (h/t Mirror).

Liverpool should make a few moves in the summer as we need cover for Robertson. James Milner can play as a left-back but the Englishman has done a wonderful job in the midfield over the past two seasons.

We could do with another striker providing cover for Roberto Firmino, however, Divock Origi did a good job for the Reds when called upon in the second half of the campaign.
