Latest Liverpool news: Xherdan Shaqiri injured in loss against England
Switzerland’s Nations League finals did not go as planned after two defeats in two games. The Swiss were the surprise semi-finalists in the inaugural tournament but lost to Portugal.
They then lost to England in an underwhelming third place game which went all the way to penalties.
Neither team could score in 120 minutes, with England having the better chances. Although the game didn’t have a lot of talking points, there was some concern for Liverpool.
Xherdan Shaqiri was in decent touch against Portugal but the attacker had to leave the pitch after the hour mark. The Liverpool Echo reports that the injury could be muscle related and the Swiss star was holding his calf and asked to be replaced.
The report adds that Shaqiri went straight down the tunnel to the medical room.
Shaqiri had his moments to celebrate this season
The Swiss star joined us from Stoke City and was great in the first half of the campaign. Shaqiri then went missing in the second half of the season but had a crucial role to play in the Champions League semi-final second leg win over Barcelona.
He provided the cross for Georginio Wijnaldum’s second and our third as we routed the Catalans 4-0.
Shaqiri still can do a job for us in the upcoming campaign and fortunately, this injury came when the season was done for the Reds.

Shaqiri will have the summer to deal with this problem and hopefully, he comes back raring to go for another huge campaign.
