Liverpool FC transfer news: Mark Lawrenson claims Reds need to strengthen these two positions
Former Liverpool star Mark Lawrenson has suggested that the Reds need to sign players for two positions this summer.
Jurgen Klopp led the Reds to a sixth Champions League trophy last week, and Liverpool have to start planning for next season.
Liverpool released a few stars from the team, with Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno leaving for free, and Lawrenson believes we need to make a move to replace one of them (h/t Mirror):
“Klopp might need another left-back with Moreno going, because if Andy Robertson was out for two to three months, would you be happy with James Milner in there?”
The former Red also believed that we need an attacking midfielder, and spoke about Lyon star Nabil Fekir:
“So maybe a young left-back with loads of potential who Klopp can train on and who you hope won’t play for the first four or five months if Robertson is fit. Maybe a No.10, too. They tried to get Nabil Fekir, which didn’t happen because of his knee, but that kind of player would be good.”
Liverpool need a full-back in the summer
Moreno didn’t play much last season but we still need cover for Robertson. The Scotland captain was in excellent form this season, however, there has to be some competition and cover for the left-back role.
Liverpool might not need a central attacking midfielder after the return of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from his long injury.
The Englishman is back to fitness and collected a Champions League winners’ medal on Saturday.

Naby Keita was also doing well before his injury against Barcelona while Jordan Henderson did a great job in an advanced role during the final weeks of the campaign.
