Liverpool confirmed that the pre-season friendly against Schalke has been postponed.
The friendly was scheduled for 6th August but Liverpool start their Premier League campaign on 9th August against Norwich.
The Friday game seems to have come early for the Reds as the release
adds that we need adequate preparation time. The release claimed that a new date for the game against Schalke would be shared once the two teams work together. This certainly was a tough decision taken by the Reds, but it makes sense as we need to be well-prepared to face Daniel Farke’s men.
Norwich won the Championship last season and cannot be taken lightly. The additional time to prepare is important for the Reds given that several players will be returning from AFCON and Copa America duty.
The news might not be great for some fans making plans to watch the match against Schalke but the team cannot take a risk with injuries too, as the season would start just three days after this game.
