Latest Liverpool transfer news: Bayern Munich turn attention to Leroy Sane from Timo Werner
Bild (h/t Liverpool Echo) reports that Bayern Munich have cooled their interest in striker Timo Werner, and Jurgen Klopp could make a move for the German.
The RB Leipzig star is a free agent at the end of the next season, however, the report claims that he could sign a new deal with the club and extend his stay.
The 23-year-old striker scored 22 goals for club and country last season and bagged seven assists in all competitions. Werner’s new deal with Leipzig could see a £45m release clause added into the contract (h/t Liverpool Echo).
The report claims that Bayern and Liverpool have tracked Werner for a long time, however, the Bundesliga giants are turning their attention to Leroy Sane.
The Manchester City star was one of the best in the Premier League last season and racked up 16 goals.
Werner to provide additional competition for places
The Leipzig striker would provide quality competition to our forwards. Roberto Firmino has done an excellent job under Jurgen Klopp but he wasn’t at his best in the previous campaign.
Divock Origi stepped up with some crucial goals, including one in the final of the Champions League.
It is to be seen if we sign an attacker in the summer given Origi’s heroics and the rise of Rhian Brewster up the ranks.
