Liverpool confirmed that they will play in the EFL Trophy for the first time in the 2019-20 season.
The Reds accepted an invitation from the EFL for the upcoming tournament and will field a U21 team.
The release adds that the 64 team competition will feature teams from the 48 clubs in League Two and League One while 16 teams from Category One Academies will join.
The draw for the tournament is set to take place in July, with the first round of fixtures commencing from 2 September.
This will be a great experience for the U21 side as they could face some senior players from the lower leagues.
Liverpool are set to participate in several competitions next season, and hopefully, we can unearth some stars from the EFL Trophy.
Liverpool have some quality youngsters in the team currently, and this will be a great opportunity to showcase their skills to Jurgen Klopp.
