Latest Liverpool news: Liverpool have additional rest days ahead of UEFA Super Cup final
Liverpool have an opportunity to win a trophy just a week into the season (if the Community Shield isn’t counted) with the UEFA Super Cup final scheduled on 14 August.
The Reds face Norwich in their Premier League opener on Friday 9 August while Chelsea face Manchester United in the game of the weekend.
The Premier League fixture computer has given us a slight advantage regarding the Super Cup as Chelsea face the Red Devils on Sunday.
The Blues have just three days to prepare for the Super Cup while the Reds will have a couple of extra days.
Blues sold a major player recently
Liverpool should be favourites for the Super Cup given that we didn’t lose to Chelsea in the Premier League last season.
The Blues defeated us in the League Cup, however, the match winner on that day is now a Real Madrid player.
Eden Hazard will now ply his trade in La Liga, and the Reds haven’t lost any major players for the upcoming season.
Liverpool’s schedule is packed with extra games thanks to our Champions League win, and it will be interesting to see how we deal with them in the coming campaign.
