“Shocking”, “Making me sick” – Some Liverpool fans can’t believe the club’s defence the last time they played Norwich

Latest Liverpool news: Some fans cannot believe how poor Liverpool’s defence was the last time we played Norwich

Liverpool’s 2019-2020 Premier League opener is a Friday night clash against Norwich City.

The Canaries returned to the Premier League by winning the Championship and it should be a real test for them against the Champions League winners on 9 August.

The Reds played one of the great Premier League games at Carrow Road in 2016 and will be remembered for the last minute celebrations thanks to Adam Lallana’s winner.

This was one of the memorable moments from Jurgen Klopp’s first season in charge.

A crazy game with no defence

Both sides didn’t display their best defence as the lead changed several times in the game.

Liverpool were losing 3-1 at one point and the game was tied at 4-4 when Lallana’s volleyed looped off the ground and into the Norwich net.

Klopp’s glasses broke in the ensuing celebrations, and the Liverpool Twitter account reminded supporters of that crazy game.

Many fans were shocked at the level of defending from that game. Liverpool have come a long way since those days as we have possibly the best defender in the world, Virgil van Dijk.

The back four that day was Kolo Toure, Mamadou Sakho, Nathaniel Clyne and Alberto Moreno.

Now our defence also includes Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold, possibly the best full-backs in the Premier League.

Liverpool had the best defensive record in the Premier League last season, but some supporters could not believe what we were doing a few years ago.
