Latest Liverpool transfer news: Dutch expert claims Reds have scouted Donny van de Beek
One of the surprises from the Champions League last season was Ajax’s form up to the semi-finals.
The Dutch giants have a young team and did extremely well by defeating Real Madrid and Juventus in the knockout rounds.
Ajax eventually lost to Tottenham on the away goals rule, but they have many stars that turned up on the Champions League nights.
Matthijs de Ligt, Hakim Ziyech and Frenkie de Jong were great but Donny van de Beek also had his moments last season.
The 22-year-old scored 16 goals and provided 12 assists in all competitions, and Dutch expert Marcel van der Kraan claimed that Van de Beek was scouted by Liverpool.
The expert was speaking to Sky Sports and added that several Premier League clubs had scouted the midfielder last season (h/t Liverpool Echo):
“He is a perfect backup for many clubs. He is not the No 1 for most clubs – I have seen scouts from Tottenham, Man United, Everton, Liverpool and Newcastle at Ajax Amsterdam Arena watching him a number of times.”
Van der Kraan added that the Ajax star is “ideal” for the Premier League, and the 22-year-old can run all day long. The Dutch journalist added that Van de Beek might prefer a move to England over other countries.
Liverpool need to make a couple of signings in the summer
Jurgen Klopp has built an excellent team at Anfield, and it will be interesting to see what our plan is in the summer window. The Reds need to sign a left-back and possibly a striker due to Alberto Moreno and Daniel Sturridge leaving.

Our midfield seems set with various options for Klopp, however, a rising star such as Van de Beek would be a great addition for the present and future.
