Liverpool FC transfer news: Neil Warnock claims there have been no offers for Neil Etheridge

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock provided an update on goalkeeper Neil Etheridge’s future.

The Philippines goalkeeper had been linked with Liverpool (h/t Wales Online), but Warnock claimed that he had received no offers for the 29-year-old.

Wales Online adds that Aston Villa are also interested in the 29-year-old, however, Warnock was quoted as saying:

“I’ve had no offers whatsoever for Neil.”

The manager also spoke about reports of Cardiff rejecting offers for the goalkeeper, but Warnock wanted to keep hold of the 29-year-old:

“I’ve read comments that we’ve turned down an £8m offer from this club and that club, but I’ve not received any phone calls and I don’t think Ken Choo has.

“We’re quite happy about that. We think the squad that we’ve got, the goalkeepers that we’ve got, are very good.”

Etheridge was one of the top keepers in the division last season as he tried his best to keep Cardiff in the top-flight.

The Bluebirds were eventually relegated and will try to bounce back to the Premier League this time around.

Etheridge would be a great No.2 at Liverpool

Alisson is our first-choice keeper and the Brazilian will want to improve after a stellar debut season at Anfield.

The former Roma man does need a quality back-up and Simon Mignolet did an excellent job despite not playing many games in the season.

Should the Belgian leave, the Reds could do with someone like Etheridge in the team. The keeper has a lot of Premier League experience and was reliable for Cardiff last season.
