Latest Liverpool transfer news: Manchester United enter race for Junior Firpo
Manchester United have entered the race to sign Real Betis left-back Junior Firpo, according to Marca (h/t Mirror).
The 22-year-old had a great season with Betis, racking up three goals and providing four assists in La Liga.
The Spanish defender is currently with the U-21 national-team for the Euros and played the entire game as they defeated the Belgians 2-1.
The report claims that United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to overhaul his team after a tough season.
Betis are willing to sell the talented youngster if his £45million release clause is met, and Liverpool are also interested in the defender (h/t Mirror).
The report adds that United and Liverpool are not concerned with the release clause of the 22-year-old, and Jurgen Klopp sees him as a decent addition to the team.
The Reds need to sign some cover and competition for Andy Robertson in the summer window. Alberto Moreno left the Reds on a free, and we would only have Joe Gomez and James Milner who can replace the Robertson as our the left-back.
Firpo could provide cover for another position too
The report adds that the Spanish star can play as a left-winger or as a central defender, which would provide the Reds with enough cover should Dejan Lovren leave next season.
Liverpool did have problems with the centre-back spot last season as Fabinho had to be shoehorned into the role in a few games.

The Reds could do with the versatility of Firpo as he provides cover for several players.
