Latest Liverpool transfer news: Jonathan Northcroft believes Liverpool could make a big move in the transfer window
Jurgen Klopp has the chance to strengthen an incredible Liverpool team after we lifted the Champions League a few weeks ago.
The Reds spent big in the previous summer campaign, but journalist Jonathan Northcroft believes Liverpool are trying to complete smaller deals.
Northcroft was speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast and claimed the Reds will try to deal with Divock Origi and Simon Mignolet in the summer, while small loan deals will take place too.
The journalist claimed Mignolet could leave while Origi would be handed a new deal. Liverpool could also be in the market for “top” players later in the window (h/t Daily Star):
“Tying up Divock Origi on a new contract, which I do expect to happen, and saving their energies for maybe signing a couple of very young players to develop and then trying to pick off those top players at the top end of the market that are gonna take them forward.”
Northcroft further claimed that Liverpool have brought down their choices to maybe two or three, and will work on them.
Klopp expects more from the Reds
Winning the Champions League was huge for a team that had worked hard all season.
The Reds missed out on the Premier League title by one point, and it will be interesting to see how things develop in the transfer window.
Klopp spoke recently and claimed there was more to come from the Reds (h/t Daily Star):
“Madrid wasn’t the final chapter for us – I think we’re still writing the introduction.”
