Latest Liverpool transfer news: Fans expect Fernandes to join after Camacho’s sale
Liverpool confirmed that Portuguese youngster Rafa Camacho is leaving for Sporting Lisbon.
The 19-year-old played a couple of games for us last season but became frustrated at the lack of first-team opportunities under Jurgen Klopp (h/t Liverpool Echo).
The Liverpool Echo adds that Camacho was sold for an initial fee of £5million, which can rise to £7m with add-ons.
The report adds that Liverpool have also included a 20% sell-on clause as the youngster highly-rated.
Camacho also refused to sign a new deal with the Reds despite agreeing on one condition where he would be loaned for a season (h/t Liverpool Echo).
Loads of interest in Camacho
The report claims that the Portuguese starlet rejected talks with AC Milan, Schalke and Wolves as he was unsure about first-team opportunities at the clubs.
The report adds that Klopp is a fan of the Portuguese but the club believes that selling him now is the best option.
Camacho’s sale caught the attention of several fans online as they believed Bruno Fernandes would be coming to the Reds.
The Sporting Lisbon midfielder had an excellent season with club and country.
The 24-year-old scored 20 goals in the league and won the Nations League with Portugal in the summer.
Fernandes can play in several positions, and many fans were awaiting the news of him joining Liverpool.
