Liverpool FC transfer news: Reds will not spend more than £20million on forward in summer

The Mirror (h/t Metro) claims that Jurgen Klopp won’t be allowed to spend more than £20million on a new attacker in the summer.

The report claims that Liverpool will search the market for a versatile forward, such as Xherdan Shaqiri, who can provide cover to Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

The pair were excellent last season as they won the Golden Boot (along with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang), and helped the Reds lift the Champions League title.

Salah and Mane are busy with the African Cup of Nations while Roberto Firmino is also away with the national side for the Copa America.

Daniel Sturridge is out of a contract in the summer while the Reds don’t have anyone apart from Shaqiri who is a natural winger in the team.

The Reds have Harry Wilson and Ryan Kent on their books, and it will be interesting to see if we give them a chance next season.

Divock Origi and Rhian Brewster will provide cover for Firmino, with Origi also capable of playing out wide.

Liverpool will not spend huge in the summer

The report adds that Liverpool are set to be more conservative, after spending big in the previous summer window.
