Liverpool FC transfer news: Josh McPake to sign new deal with Rangers
Liverpool have been dealt a blow in the chase for Rangers youngster Josh McPake.
The Herald claims that the 17-year-old will sign a new deal under Steven Gerrard and stay there until 2023.
The Scottish youngster is one of the brightest talents coming through the ranks at Ibrox, and helped the U20 side win the Development League and Youth Cup last season.
McPake mostly plays as a right-winger, though he can slot in as a striker. He even had some games as a right-back too.
The report adds that Liverpool were interested in the youngster while AS Roma were also keen on the Scottish starlet.
Gerrard will be handed a boost with this news, according to the report, and the former Liverpool star will want to improve after a great debut season with the Gers.
The former Liverpool midfielder helped the Gers to second place in the Scottish Premiership, and he will hope to usurp Celtic to the title next season.
Liverpool sign one youngster in the summer
The Reds might have missed out on McPake but they have signed Sepp van den Berg from PEC Zwolle.
The Dutch centre-back is highly rated in the Netherlands, and it will be interesting to see when he starts playing for the first-team.
