Liverpool FC transfer news: Junior Firpo leaves door open regarding Real Betis exit

Spanish reports claim that Liverpool are interested in signing Junior Firpo of Real Betis (h/t Mirror).

The 22-year-old left-back had a decent season with the La Liga team and was a part of the U21 Spanish side that participated at the Euros.

Firpo has also been linked with Barcelona (h/t Mirror) and has refused to confirm he will remain at Betis.

The 22-year-old is away on a break after winning the U21 Euros with the Spanish side, and told Diario AS (h/t Mirror):

“I want to enjoy this success and the holidays, right now all the clubs are starting their pre-season and we are finishing it – when the summer is over I will sit down and talk about my future.”

The youngster has a massive release clause of €60million, and the report claims that Betis would want all of it in order to let him leave.

The report adds that Betis have Emerson from Barcelona on loan, who could be a replacement for Firpo.

Liverpool need to get cover for Andy Robertson

Andy Robertson is the best left-back in the Premier League and we need cover for the Scot ahead of the new season.

Alberto Moreno left the Reds after his contract ended, and the Reds don’t have any experienced left-backs in the first-team.

James Milner, Joe Gomez and Fabinho are capable of slotting into that role, but a natural full-back has to be a priority signing in the summer.
