Liverpool FC transfer news: Liverpool approach Barcelona regarding French sensation Ousmane Dembele

L’Equipe (h/t Get French Football News) claims that Liverpool approached Barcelona regarding a summer transfer for Ousmane Dembele.

The report adds that Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich also approached the La Liga champions after talks failed to land Manchester City’s Leroy Sane.

Dembele scored 8 goals and provided 5 assists from 29 La Liga games but the Frenchman had his injury problems last season too.

The 22-year-old joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund for a huge fee, and the report claims that he wants to stay at the Catalan giants.

Klopp admires Dembele

The report claims that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp appreciates Dembele and the Reds initiated contact over a possible move for the 22-year-old.

Barcelona could sign Antoine Griezmann, and the report adds that this possible arrival hasn’t led to Dembele questioning his future at the club.

The Catalans too do not want to get rid of the 22-year-old even though Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the Frenchman (h/t Get French Football News).

The 22-year-old can play in several positions and could be a great signing for the Reds.

The report claims that Neymar is also being linked with a return to Barcelona, and it would be a surprise if the Catalans don’t sell some players in the summer.

Dembele could play out wide and centrally, and would have given us several avenues to deploy him in the first-team.

Liverpool have had a quiet summer so far, with only Sepp van den Berg joining the club, however, we need to strengthen the team after an excellent campaign.

Our full-backs could use some cover, and the same goes for our forwards too.

We were lucky with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane not missing games due to injuries, but they will return late for pre-season due to their AFCON commitments.
