Latest Liverpool transfer news: Divock Origi has close to a 50% chance of joining Real Betis

ESPN (h/t Liverpool Echo) claims that Divock Origi has close to a 50% chance of joining Real Betis.

The Belgian was one of our surprise performers last season as he scored several crucial goals.

The 24-year-old first scored the winner in the Merseyside derby at Anfield, and got the third goal in the 3-2 win over Newcastle United.

His best performances came in the Champions League as he scored a brace in the 4-0 win over Barcelona in the semi-final second leg, and also got a goal in the 2-0 final win over Tottenham.

The report claims that Betis have submitted an offer to the Belgian, and Origi’s Liverpool contract ends next season.

ESPN (h/t Liverpool Echo) adds that Origi has close to 50% chance of leaving the Reds should he be provided with a prominent role at Betis. The Belgian played second fiddle to Roberto Firmino last season, and only got his starts after the Brazilian picked up an injury.

Origi did do a good job off the bench, but his starts would be limited in the upcoming season, with Firmino doing a great job at the Copa America.

Firpo hanging about in the deal too

The report adds that Spanish U21 left-back Junior Firpo could move in the other direction and the youngster was great in the U21 Euros recently.

Origi would possibly get more football at another club, and that would be great for his development.

We would also need to move for a quality back-up for Firmino if Origi is sold, even though the Reds have Rhian Brewster on their books.
