Liverpool FC transfer news: Liverpool express concern to FIFA over Lazio’s move for Bobby Adekanye
The Evening Standard reports that Liverpool have shared their concern to FIFA as Bobby Adekanye joined Lazio.
The young winger completed a four-year stay at Anfield and left on a free transfer to join the Italian giants.
The Dutch youngster rejected offers from Liverpool over a new deal and was frustrated over a lack of first-team minutes, according to the report.
A transfer could have handed Liverpool a sizeable amount, however, the report claims that the Reds only received €270,000 regarding training costs for the 20-year-old.
The report adds that the Reds have alerted FIFA that Adekanye could have been contacted by Lazio before he became a free agent.
The Evening Standard claims that players under 23 cannot negotiate with foreign clubs even if they are in the final six months of their contract.
Adekanye even provided a clue that he was in contact with Lazio during an interview with Voetbalzone.nl in March.
The youngster said (h/t Evening Standard) that Lazio were one of the clubs interested in him and even named Barcelona:
“That it would be completed with Lazio is not at all the case. It’s not over yet. It is one of the clubs that is interested, but it is not yet 100 per cent decided.
“I also heard from Barcelona, in the Netherlands Willem II came by. I can’t name the entire list of clubs now, because then we will be busy tomorrow. But there is interest from, among others, the Netherlands, Italy and Spain.”
The report claims that it is to be seen if Liverpool
Liverpool sign a young player too
Adekanye would have faced problems getting first-team minutes given the quality of our attackers, however, the Reds have signed a quality player for the future.
